Ok, this is terrifying…

After what I’ve seen happen to Sesame Street, I don’t know if I trust Sesame Workshop to resurrect The Electric Company. (h/t The Shifted Librarian)

Looking for a commercial

Hey, does anybody out there remember the 4C Bread Crumbs commercials, which showed the actors only from the chest down? I’m trying to dig up the one where the daughter wanted to expand her cultural horizons, and the dad kept repeating “She called the Fiji Islands…”

Lost funeral clipping

Thanks to a screencap by a prepared fan, we know some more details about the man in the coffin. Since it’s so wrinkled, we don’t know everything. As far as I can tell, it says:

The BBC reports that John Inman, probably best known for his role as Mr. Humphries on Are You Being Served, has died at age 71.

“A Boy and His Frog” fanvid

I’ve mentioned Tom Smith’s Jim Henson tribute song, “A Boy and His Frog”, before. The other day, I was searching YouTube for Sesame Street videos, as Erin read the lyrics in Sesame Street Unpaved, when I came across a video that did a wonderful job of matching the song.

What’s it really like in Iraq?

This BBC video purports to show us. It’s very graphic, so be warned.

Carl Sagan blog-a-thon

I didn’t know about the Sagan memorial blog-a-thon until today, but I suppose this would be a good time to pull out the autographed copy of Cosmos I liberated from my parents’ bookshelf on Thanksgiving and review it with da gulls.

Or maybe, since I’m at the Bangor library, I should check and see if they have videos of the series…

My most annoying answering machine message ever involved the opening theme music to Cosmos, in its entirety. I knew the trick to skip the outgoing, but nobody else who called me did… :-)

Thanks to Alex for the link.

New animated Trek series?

Hmm. If this were Babylon 5, it would make a certain amount of sense, but how far away from Roddenberry’s ideals can you get and still call it Star Trek? (Thanks to Laura for the link. Hope things out there get better fast….)
