Fast Company

Emphasis on fast. :-)

Robert Scoble got to do a video interview with Elon Musk, chairman of Tesla Motors, from inside the first production Tesla Roadster, which is an electric car that can go 0 to 60 in 4 seconds and gets around 200 miles on a charge. Jason Calacanis of Mahalo was following in his Corvette, and couldn’t keep up. :-)

Scoble v2.1

Milan Scoble was released this weekend: the IPO seems to have gone successfully. :-)

Linkbaiting

See, Robert? You got one link, at least. :-)

Scoble on the Vatican website

Or, more accurately, Scoble interviewing the nun who is the editorial director of the Vatican, and hence in charge of the website for a 2000-ish-year-old organization.

Photowalking

Shel Israel recently took part in a photowalk that Scoble organized. A photowalk is when a group of people wander around, take pictures, and upload them to flickr (or similar site). He urges us to do the same for our areas: I’m thinking that once the weather turns nicer, maybe we can wander from Brewer over the Chamberlain Bridge, through downtown Bangor, and up past Stephen King’s house.

Any takers?

Scoble farewell party

Well, if I’m going to wear my “I’m Blogging This” shirt to a party, I suppose I have to say something here, right? :-)

I took some time out from moving out of the shelter to go to the last Bothell Scoble Bash (for a good long while, anyway). This was the first time that I had taken Donna and the girls, and Donna was a bit apprehensive about not knowing anyone there. The ice was broken a bit, though, when she got to watch the 3rd-highest Zuma scorer practice her art on Scoble’s Xbox360/60-inch-HDTV combo. Ael was absolutely enthralled watching Patrick play Second Life on his Mac laptop. She can hardly wait until she’s old enough to get her own Teen grid account - I guess she’ll just have to watch me play until then. Erin, though, decided to play out in the backyard, mostly by herself (although she did share the rope swing with another girl (sometimes)).

While Patrick was in Second Life, I asked him if he was into MUDs and MUSHes, too. When he looked blank, I explained that they were just like Second Life — virtual worlds where you can explore and build stuff — but text only.

You haven’t heard disdain until you’ve heard a 13-year-old geek repeat “Text only”.

We couldn’t stay long, though, because Donna was anxious to get Mac back from the folks who have been watching him for the past couple of weeks. When I first saw him, I was shocked at how old he looked and acted, but as he settled in at the new place, he started to turn back into his mommy’s puppy again. :-)

Scoble moves on

Robert Scoble, Microsoft blogger extraordinaire, has decided to move to a startup in the new media industry.

He made it quite clear that he isn’t leaving because of any issues with Microsoft: they gave him everything they could, and more. It’s just that sometimes, you have to move on anyway - especially when you have to commute to California on a weekly basis to be with part of your family. Also, new opportunities are being created all the time, in part because of the work he’s done at MS. It’s time to go check them out.

Robert Scoble blogs his mother’s illness

Robert Scoble’s mom had a bad stroke the other day. He’s been keeping us posted from Montana.

Why am I saying this all on my blog? Cause it’s interesting how family members and friends use my blog to learn about what’s going on in my life and also to help. I got a phone call and email from friends of my mom’s who found me through search engines. (Yet another reason I leave my cell phone and email address on my blog).

The evolution of Blog reading

Last time I got Scobleized, most of the links came directly from his site. This time around, I’m getting a pretty good mix of links from his main site, the individual post, and various aggregrators. (You can find the link to see this for yourself fairly easily, I’m not going to make it easier for the referral spam types…)

I’ve been Scobleized!

Robert Scoble wanted to make a point about using blogging to keep track of his friends, so he linked to my post about watching the C-5s at BGR.

Hey, Robert, did you catch my Valkyrie link the other day? I hadn’t heard of it before, despite my love for high-speed planes (I pulled my elder daughter out of Kindergarten early to watch the Concorde come in to Boeing Field for the last time).
