Aubrey Atwater recently participated with Maria Sangiolo in recording her album Fairy Moon, supplying the whistle line for one of the tunes. If you have kids who are into fairies and/or folk music, I highly recommend it.
For the first several years of Ael and Erin’s lives, almost every night they went to sleep to one of Atwater-Donnelly’s albums.
Aubrey Atwater is in their bedroom right now, singing them to sleep again. (Course, it won’t work, but…) Tomorrow, she’s doing a couple of assemblies at Ael’s school.
At a stop at Aubrey and Elwood’s site, I found that they had added a link to a page devoted to the song “Kilkelly”. It includes the letters that the song was drawn from, pictures of the house where John lived, and more.
The website comments that “Kilkelly” is their most-requested song. While they don’t have it up on their site, you can hear a short excerpt from it at this site.
Aubrey Atwater and Elwood Donnelly have just released their eighth album, The Blackest Crow. While I haven’t purchased the album yet, I have all of their others (some in multiple formats), and the sample tracks sound as glorious as ever.
If you buy a copy, tell Aubrey I sent you. :-)
