Gimpshop

Ah, the powers of open source. GIMP is an incredibly-powerful image editing tool, and it’s free. However, it’s also very complex.

Enter Gimpshop. Scott Moschella hacked an interface around GIMP that made it look much more like Photoshop.

On one hand, I’m looking forward to trying it out: on the other, I’m starting to get sort-of-used to GIMP.

Thanks to the Slashdot commenter who pointed to it.

Finding new blogs

A while ago, I added myself to Dave Winer’s Share Your OPML site. One of its features is “Subscriptions Like Mine”. The first few times I read it, I recognized all the closest names, most of them from the Fox blogging community. Today, though, I saw a name I didn’t recognize — Alan Stevens.

Alan is a Fox and .NET developer who works for the Defense Systems Group, which does the well-known JFAST app, among others. His Fox Wiki page tells us that he started with Fox in 2000, which was the last conference I actually made it to, which is probably why I haven’t run into him yet.

Nice to “meet” you, Alan. :-)

Question Authority, part 2

Edward Hasbrouck followed up on his experience with the TSA, and received a rather non-responsive letter from the TSA Privacy Officer.

Thanks for the comment in the previous post, Edward.
