Flight of the Valkyrie

A Miracle of Science linked to a picture of the XB-70 Valkyrie, which inspired me to search for more info on this Mach-3 bomber. I finally came across a very detailed history that talked about the engineering challenges that were (or were not) overcome in this project.

As I scanned across the various high-res images, one of my co-workers accused me of viewing flight porn at work. :-)

From hand-hacking to WordPress

Scoble reports in the same post that Jeffrey Zeldman, who has been hand-coding his site for 11 years, has switched over to WordPress. Apparently, it’s the first content management system he’s run into that doesn’t get in the way of his work.

I’m going to have to check this out myself; after all, the reason I moved off blogspot.com was that I wanted the flexibility to make my blog work the way I wanted it to. Besides, my nominal home page has always been hand-hacked, although updates have lagged since I started getting seriously into blogging.

Vista-class PC for $366?

Chris Sells recently pulled off this stunt, with a little help from Fry’s. Thanks to Scoble for the pointer.
